Oxford LJCC Qualifier, 27th November 2022

This event is jointly run by Cheney Rapidplays and Oxfordshire Junior Chess and is a qualifying event for the 2022 London Junior Chess Championships. It is an open event and entries are welcome from all juniors. All queries to Joseph.p.conlon@gmail.com

U8 (year 3 and below), U10 (year 5 and below), U12 (year 7 and below), U18 (year 13 and below) sections
Ages are taken as on 31st August 2022.
Entry fee £24; second sibling £20, third sibling £16.
Entrants should be ECF silver members (free for first-time juniors)  by the date of the tournament. IF YOU HAVE ANY UNCERTAINTY ABOUT HOW TO SET THIS UP, PLEASE ASK THE ORGANISER!
6 rounds - this is not a knockout and your child plays every game
No entries on the day.

Qualification scores for London finals:

U8: 4/6
U10: 3.5/6 to qualify for Minor final, 4.5/6 to qualify for Major final
U12: 3.5/6 to qualify for Minor final, 4.5/6 to qualify for Major final
older than U12: no qualification required for final

All sections will be submitted for ECF Rating. I also hope to submit the U12 and U18 sections for FIDE rapidplay rating.

Guaranteed Prizes (no child can win more than one trophy):

U8: Trophies for 1st/2nd/3rd, best U7, best U6, best girl, best slow starter (0/2 in first two rounds)
U10: Trophies for 1st/2nd/3rd, best U9, best girl, best slow starter (0/2 in first two rounds)
U12:  Trophies for 1st/2nd/3rd, best U11, best girl, best slow starter (0/2 in first two rounds).

U18: Trophy for 1st, cash prizes of £60 / £40 / £20 (additional prizes depending on entries)

Tie breaks: Sum of progressive scores, then direct encounter, then sum of opponent scores.

Other Prizes: the organisers hope to make additional prizes/medals available dependant on entry

Prizegivings for each section will be as soon as possible after the end of the last round.

All U8 players will also receive small chocolate prizes.

Time control: 20 min + 10 sec in all sections (i.e. you start with 20 minutes, and every move you get an extra 10 seconds)

On completion of the registration form, you will receive a subsequent email (this may take a couple of days) with BACS transfer details.
