Start by asking your child if they know the story of Noah and the Ark. Ask them to share with you what they know. If you'd like, you can read the the story of Noah from a children's Bible or picture book. Emphasize that God took care of Noah and his family because Noah believed and trusted in God. *
Give your child time to act out the story of Noah. They can pretend to be the parade of animals to the tune of "The Ants Go Marching." Use these adapted lyrics: "The (animals) go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah. The (animals) go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah. The (animals) go marching two by two, Because Noah trusts in God will do. And they all go marching on to the ark. To get out of the rain, BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" *
Assure your child that floods and other natural disasters aren't punishments from God. God didn't say there would never be another flood but that no other flood would destroy the whole world. God cares about about all creatures and wants everyone to be saved. Even if people die through a natural disaster, God will bring those who are faithful to him into forever happiness in Heaven. *
Lastly, help your child find page 20 in their workbooks. Read aloud the title to them. Then have either you or your child read the first three lines. Next, give your child some crayons and read aloud the directions. Ask your child: "What are some examples of how God cares for people, animals, and the earth?" Challenge your child to come up with one example for each band of the rainbow. *
