2023 Juneteenth x Homer Pride Talent Application
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FhKGkVay8JvarRUcAG8l7Lo6Uxm16-g-skfWSsxz5Rs/edit?usp=sharing

Hi Friends!
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to submit a talent application. If there are any questions regarding this application, please email Homer Pride (HP going forward) at HomerPride99603@gmail.com

Other Terms going forward: LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC

LGBTQIA2S+ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Two-Spirit. HP also recognizes sexual orientation as independent terms. There is a comprehensive list of sexual orientations that HP recognizes.

For the purpose of this form, we acknowledge the different intersections of the full definition. We will be using the term LGBTQ+as well as BIPOC that stands for Black Indigenous and People of Color. BIPOC is an attempt to center the violence, systemic racism, and cultural erasure against Black and Indigenous people and how it is foundational to the United States, a country founded on the enslavement of Black people and the genocide of Indigenous people.

We must acknowledge that many individuals and communities do not see themselves represented by either of these terms because they are not specifically named.

Thank you for your interest in helping us provide entertainment at this event.

All applications are subject to approval. All performers must agree to provide a safe, inclusive, family friendly environment. All language on stage and song choices should fit these same expectations.

While the committee makes every effort to ensure stage time, spaces for all talents cannot be guaranteed.

Applicants will be notified of Stage Time assignments by 5pm AKST Saturday June 10, 2023.

Application Deadline:  Sunday June 4, 2023 at 5pm AKST

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and how it affects LGBTQ+ & BIPOC folks disproportionately, as members of the community we ask that you practice safety by not attending if you are feeling ill, wear masks and practice social distancing when/if possible. Our marginalized communities are at a higher risk of encountering many of the economic setbacks already experienced such as unemployment, difficulty paying bills and navigating the cis heteronormative healthcare system. We do not want our event to contribute to setbacks and would appreciate you keeping our community safe.

We thank you for supporting Homer Pride as your organization is helping to fund accessible events for our community.

Confirmation:

Approval of application must be confirmed within 3 business days of receiving acceptance email with further details.

If no contact is received within the given time period, Homer Pride may offer your stage time slot to the next performer on the waiting list.

After confirmation we would appreciate promotion of this event by posting on your social media stories and feeds

Stage Time Assignments:

We reserve the right to modify times as necessary.

Stage schedules will be sent by 5pm AKST June 10, 2023.

Breakdown of the vendors begin at 5pm, however if we get enough performers we may extend food vendors to accommodate the stage performers.

Sound Check:

As we are a one day event it is very hard to do sound checks in advance. We ask you report to the stage manager at least 15 mins before your scheduled time slot. As some performers may be traveling to the venue if any delays arise please keep in contact with the stage crew.

The Sound system will be able to set up between 10:00 am - 12:00. Depending on your talent you may be asked to show up during Sound check in addition to your show time slot.

For the first performers/host, we ask that you be set up and ready by the time the march to the WKFL park begins as some folks come just to the park.

Basic Rules:

Juneteenth X Homer Pride is an LGBTQ+ positive event hosted by Homer Pride.  We believe in the inclusion and recognition of the importance of empowering our BIPOC friends, family, allies and communities.  As such, any vendor displaying anti-LGBTQ+, racists, or pro-colonizer sentiments will be asked to leave immediately.

Pride is about inclusion and the LGBTQ+ community and the Black and Indigenous and folks of color communities have liberation movements that overlap. We acknowledge the deliberate anti-Blackness that occurs in Pride. Our goal is to create change by focusing on the necessity to be inclusive and intersectional and welcoming a joint liberation celebration.

1. Performers are responsible for keeping the area around the stage and back stage areas clean and free of hazards.

2. No fire-inducing or producing materials or devices allowed.

3. This is a smoke/vape free event.  There will be no smoking allowed at the liberation celebration park area. Folks are welcome to smoke across the street and away from the event.

4. Do not speak negatively or put down other vendors or events, especially not to attendees.

We and the City of Homer have not agreed to the sale or use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs at our Pride event.

We ask that after you have unloaded, you park at the designated parking as said loading zone will become handicap accessible parking during the event. Parking is allowed at the HERC, Kachemak Bay Campus and  Homer High School

Institutional information:

Performers will take all responsibility to report tips or donations per local law.

Indemnity:

By completing the performers application form, the talent is agreeing to not hold the Homer Pride for any debt, tax, assessments, salary, and/or expense incurred by the performer/s.  Further, Homer Pride shall not be liable for the result of any accident or damage to any person or article employed by or in possession of the performer while at the Homer pride event,  whether such accident, loss or damage occurs during the time of set up, take down, or during the event itself.  All event organizers are volunteers and are not receiving any form of payment.
