The Nevada Registry: 2022 Adult Learning Academy Participant Interest Application
INTRODUCTION:
In order to initially qualify as an approved trainer in the Generalist, Out of State and Corporate trainer categories, individuals must present evidence of having previously delivered a minimum of 15 hours of training (in addition to meeting all other criteria). Individuals who do not meet this criteria in full cannot proceed with the trainer qualification and application process, regardless of whether all other criteria has been met. The Adult Learning Academy (ALA or “the Academy”) is the pathway available through The Nevada Registry’s training approval system (TAS) to help individuals interested in becoming approved trainers obtain the training delivery hours needed to initially qualify. Additionally, the ALA is designed to increase the number of publicly offered training sessions available to Early Childhood educators in Nevada. Therefore, the ALA is not designed for individuals whose primary focus/intent is to deliver in-house training sessions to their own staff.

DESCRIPTION:
Offered a minimum of one time per year, the Adult Learning Academy is typically an in-person classroom-style training session designed to help prepare individuals with less than 15 hours of previous training experience to qualify as trainers for the first time. Due to COVID-19, the 2022 ALA will once again be offered virtually via ZOOM.

The ALA is focused on adult learning and provides prospective trainers with fundamental principles and foundational information to help support the delivery of high-quality training sessions. Additionally, the ALA provides an opportunity for participants to develop effective presentation skills through the development and delivery of a one-hour presentation with peer-to-peer feedback.

The Adult Learning Academy consists of 25 hours of classroom instruction that occurs over the course of nine weeks. Approximately three hours of additional independent study and prep time is required outside of scheduled class time to complete assignments and develop a one-hour training session. Familiarity with technology, including Power Point, is essential.

The ALA is divided into two sections:
Section I: Content
This section consists of 15 classroom hours related to adult learning principles theory and training design. Classes are held for three hours per week for five consecutive weeks.
Section II: Training Delivery/Demonstration
This section consists of 10 classroom hours focused on the delivery and presentation of the training developed in Section I. Classes are held for two and a half hours per week for four consecutive weeks.

Participants must complete both sections to be eligible to apply for trainer approval. The full 25 hours of training is required regardless of whether an individual already possesses a portion of the 15 hours of previous training delivery experience needed to qualify.

COST TO ATTEND:
$125 (paid directly to the Instructor two weeks prior to the first day of class). Registration fees are non-refundable.

BENEFITS:
1. Upon receiving an evaluation rating of 3.5 or higher in both sections, individuals are eligible to apply for trainer approval with The Nevada Registry.
2. Individuals will receive 25 Registry-approved training hours (if completing both sections of the course) that can be applied toward annual training requirements for Child Care Licensing (if applicable).

EXPECTATIONS:
Successful graduates of the Adult Learning Academy are expected to apply to become an approved trainer with The Nevada Registry within two months of completing the Academy. ALA graduates are expected to deliver a minimum of four required training sessions before the end of their first 12-month trainer qualification period. Two of the four must be open to the general ECE public.

The ALA is designed to increase the number of approved trainers in the state and increase the amount of publicly offered Registry-approved training sessions available to Early Childhood educators in Nevada. Because there is a limit on the number of participants, efforts will be made to ensure that individuals from a variety of programs are included. Multiple participants from the same location will only be considered when space is available. Please indicate your current place of employment below. *
Who will be your primary audience? *
If you answered "Other" to the previous question regarding your primary audience, please describe below.
The Adult Learning Academy requires a commitment and an investment of time from both the Instructor and Participants. How often do you plan to deliver Registry-approved training once approved as a trainer? *
Participants will be required to design and deliver a one-hour training session (virtually due to COVID-19). Rate your experience with using technology including Power Point.   *
