Parent Nomination - SBDM Council 2022-23 School Year
Dear Roby Parents:
I hope you’ll consider running for our school council or encourage a friend to do so. In Kentucky, each school has a School Based Decision Making (SBDM) council composed of the principal, elected teachers, and elected parents. The council is in charge of making many of the most important decisions about how the school operates and supports student achievement. The council is a wonderful chance to learn about our school, work closely with teachers, and help make our school even more successful than it is now.

Parents elect the 2 parent members of the council who will receive training and serve from July 2022 to June 2023. We are required by law to have a parent minority member as we have a greater than 8% minority student population. If a minority parent is not elected, we have a second special election for an additional parent representative.

A parent is eligible to serve on the council if they are a biological parent, a step-parent, or a foster parent of a student; or a person who has legal custody of a student pursuant to a court order and with whom the student resides. A parent is not eligible if they are an employee or relative of an employee at the school, employee or relative of an employee at the district administrative offices, and/or a local board of education member or member’s spouse. Parents elected to the council complete two required background checks, one paid for by the district (finger print) and one the parent pays for (CAN check).

The parent SBDM election committee will share information about the date of the election and the date of the results soon. The 2 parents with the most votes will be elected to serve on the council.

Nominations are due to the parent SBDM election committee (via this form) by May 13th. If you know someone who would be a good candidate, please encourage that person to run.
