The NRCA Building Up Inclusive Leaders in Trades (BUILT) program is a two-week-long construction program designed for students in Grades 8 to 12 (Ages 13-17) who are interested in exploring various trades and construction-related fields. The program will to introduce students to the basics of trades such as carpentry, electrical, roofing and more, while also providing exposure to other critical areas of construction such as project management.
Through hands-on learning experiences, students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and develop problem-solving skills as they construct a shed from the ground up. They will learn how to read blueprints, safely use tools and equipment, and gain a solid foundation of knowledge in construction principles.
The program emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusivity in the trades and construction industry, with a particular focus on promoting opportunities for women and under-represented groups.The NRCA BUILT program offers an excellent opportunity for students to explore their interest in trades and construction while gaining valuable experience and skills that will prepare them for future careers in these fields.
