Funding examples are:
- Equipment in the lab that encourages structural engineering learning,
- Expenses for Travel to conferences, workshops, site visits with a structural engineering emphasis,
- Learning materials used in the classroom to demonstrate concepts related to structural engineering,
- Incentives for faculty to redesign courses with more hands-on activities, etc.
Restrictions:
Funds cannot be awarded twice for the same expense.
Funds cannot cover expenses already covered by another funding source.
Applications will be decided based on applications in structural engineering and materials science, with focus on professional development, contribution to student development, societal significance and feasibility of proposal.
Deliverables:
Recipients will have to write a 1-page statement detailing what the awarded funds were used for and the impact the gift had on their professional and personal development.
Applications will be reviewed throughout the year.
Students wishing to apply for this gift need a letter of support from a faculty member.
