Lesson Policies
PAYMENTS

Lessons at The Submarine School and Seton are at flat rate of $130/month per student as of November 2022. Students who started before this are locked in at their current rate through 2023. In January 2024, the monthly lesson rate will be $130 for all students, (Scholarship students must reapply December of each year)

Payments should be made at the beginning of each month via Credit Card. You will be autobilled via Intuit Quickbooks.

Our staff is not responsible for the handling of money in any form.

LESSON CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation of a lesson must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time in order to receive a make-up lesson (for definition of a make-up lesson, please see below.)

No-shows or failure to notify us in writing via submarineschoolofmusic@gmail.com within 24 hours is considered a forfeited lesson. 

The teachers are not responsible for fielding scheduling questions. All communication regarding anything scheduling related should be done directly through submarineschoolofmusic@gmail.com.

MAKE-UP LESSONS

Any lessons cancelled at least 24 hours ahead of the scheduled lesson will be eligible for a make-up lesson at a time convenient to the student with one of our teachers. Your make-up lesson may be with a substitute.

No more than one make up lesson per month.

Make-up lessons not used after one month will be considered forfeited. Cancellations should be made through the submarineschoolofmusic@gmail.com email in order to be offered a make-up time.
 
The following holidays all qualify for an extra make up lesson during that month. You must reach out and reschedule before the date in order to receive a make up lesson.

Indigenous People’s Day
Martin Luther King Day
Memorial Day

HOLIDAYS / SCHOOL BREAKS

A calendar of school breaks can be found on our website. Holidays and school breaks are already figured into the $130 monthly rate and the cost of running the school. Please let the school know in advance if there are any extra holidays or school breaks that you will be absent for and you will be given the option of scheduling one makeup lesson. For Seton students, we do not offer makeup lessons. 

WHEN YOUR TEACHER CANCELS

In most cases, when your teacher cannot be here, we will find a suitable substitute teacher and the lesson will continue as regularly scheduled. In some cases, we may need to reschedule the lesson.

COMMUNICATION AND OFFICE HOURS

Our office hours are between 9am-10am and 2:30pm-6:30pm, meaning emails will be responded to in a timely manner during that window. Day-of cancellations should be cancelled through email, though not eligible for a make-up lesson. All communication, should be done directly through our submarineschoolofmusic@gmail.com email. SCHOLARSHIPS AND TUITION ASSISTANCE

The Submarine School of Music provides tuition assistance on a sliding scale for qualifying students, based on household income, family size, and special financial considerations. The funding will come from community fundraising. Scholarships last for one year and then must be reapplied for in January.  If you are already paying less than $130 a month or would like to be considered for a future scholarship, please indicate so below and you will be sent a scholarship application.

CLUBS

String Circle, Rock Band, Submarine Singers and Good Day Sunshine meet once a week and are $60/month for current students and $120/month for non-submarine students. There are no make up sessions for clubs. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/FaYXphq1boHeMPF98

SUMMER LESSONS:

We offer lessons in July and August. Students who continue lessons through the summer will be guaranteed a spot in the fall and will be given first choice on the fall schedule.
