The 11th Young Horizons IFF – Film Submission Form

This form applies to submissions for the 11th Young Horizons International Film Festival in Poland (cinemas: 28.09 - 6.10.2024; online: 10.10 - 27.10.2024).

1.1
Stowarzyszenie Nowe Horyzonty (The New Horizons Association) with its registered office in Warsaw (00-153) at Ludwika Zamenhofa 1, Poland, entered into the register of associations, other social and professional organisations, foundations and public healthcare institutions, and into the register of entrepreneurs kept by the District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw, 12th Commercial Division of the National Court Register, under KRS (National Court Register) No.: 0000162000, tax ID (NIP): 525-22-71-014, National Official Business Register REGON number: 015503904, is the Organiser (“Organiser”) of the 11th Young Horizons International Film Festival (“Festival”).

1.2
The Festival will take place in the offline form from 28 September to 6 October 2024 in Warsaw, Wrocław, and other cities in Poland, as well as in the online form from 10 to 27 October 2024 at nowehoryzonty.pl/mlodevod.

1.3.
The details about the Festival and Festival thematic sections can be found on the official Festival website: festiwal.mlodehoryzonty.pl. The Organiser reserves the right to place the film in a competition section or non-competition section.  

1.4
The Festival programme consists of three competition sections: 

1) Main Competition – an overview of contemporary cinema for young viewers (year of production: 2023–2024) with full-length films (animated films, live-action films, and documentaries);

2) Documentary Competition – a selection of the best contemporary documentaries for young viewers (full-length and short documentaries; year of production: 2022–2024); 

3) Discoveries Competition – a presentation of arthouse cinema for young viewers with full-length films (year of production: 2023–2024) which explore new narrative forms and innovative film language.

Apart from the competitions, the programme includes 11 non-competition sections, for example: Short Stories, Book Adaptations, National Review, a review of the most important films for young viewers from the previous season, film classics, and other thematic sections. 

The films presented at the Festival are targeted at young viewers aged 4–16 and above and their carers.

The festival organizers prefer Polish premieres.

A film that has been accepted to the Festival cannot be withdrawn from the programme after 10 June 2024.

The deadline for sending the submissions is 15 May 2024.

2.1
A film will be admitted to the selection if you send a filled-in submission form by the above-mentioned date together with a link to an online overview copy. The password to the link must remain unchanged throughout the whole selection period: from the date of the film submission to the end of the festival. If it is necessary to change the password during the selection period, you must immediately notify the Organiser and provide the new password.

2.2
The Organiser will inform you about the results of the selection only if your film has been selected for the programme by 30 June 2024. The Festival Selection Committee is not required to justify its selection decisions.

2.3
The Festival must receive the following for each selected film: its copy in a DCP/ProRes format; for the online version: .mp4, English dialogue list, stills (minimum three) in a printable quality (at least 300 DPI), basic credits, and English subtitles in a separate SRT file. The Festival prefers the digital method of sending files. 

2.4
The films at the Festival will be presented with Polish dubbing, Polish voice-over, or, in the case of older viewers, with Polish subtitles. Therefore, you may be requested to deliver an unencrypted DCP copy of the film or DKDM to create a copy with Polish subtitles or Polish voice-over.

2.5
The Organiser reserves the right to use fragments of the selected films (no longer than 3 minutes), stills (including: on the festival poster, cinema interiors, catalogue, press releases, social media), and to inform about the film on the Festival website and in all other promotional materials about the Festival (including: catalogue, press releases, Festival social media, etc.).

2.6
The Organiser reserves the right to use promotional materials before, during, and after the end of the Festival.

2.7
The screening copies of the films selected to be shown at the Festival should be sent in an electronic form as a link for download or made available on a server, alternatively delivered in a physical copy to the Organiser’s office in Warsaw. In any case, the copies must be delivered by 8 July 2024.

2.8
The entity representing the film selected for the Festival must deliver an invoice and a certificate of residency by the date set out in the correspondence. 

3.1
A film can be submitted to the Festival only if it has the necessary rights, including copyrights and related rights, which enable the film to be submitted to the Festival and screened during the Festival. In particular, the entity submitting the Film to the Festival must ensure that:

1) it has copyrights to the submitted film (including the rights to the works used in the film) or relevant licences in this regard,

2) it has related rights to the submitted film or relevant licences in this regard,

3) the dissemination of personal image in relation to the film submission to the Festival or the screening of the film during the Festival does not infringe any rights of the persons whose personal image is used.

3.2
The Organiser reserves the right to reject a film submission to the Festival, to suspend the participation of the film in the Festival, or to withdraw the film from the participation in the Festival when the Organiser learns that the film submitted to the Festival or its screening during the Festival may infringe copyrights, related rights, or personal interests of third parties.

3.3
If a third party makes a claim to the Organiser with respect to infringement of copyrights or related rights that third party has to the film or its specific fragments or its personal interests, the entity submitting the film to the Festival will remedy the damage suffered by the Organiser and cover all costs related to the claims raised (Art. 392 of the Polish Civil Code).

3.4
The provisions in sections 3.1–3.3 also apply to the promotional materials referred to in section 2.

3.5
The submitting entity entrusts the Organiser with personal data processing within the meaning of Art. 31 of the Act of 29 August 1997 on Personal Data Protection (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2002, no. 101, item 926, as amended).

4.1
The entrusted personal data include the personal data of the persons listed in the submission form and persons in the credits, in particular film creators and performers. The entrusted personal data include the following personal data:

1) name and surname,

2) email address,

3) telephone number,

4) occupation.

4.2
The Organiser may process the entrusted personal data to select the film for a competition as well as to screen the film.

4.3
The Organiser is authorised to further entrust the processing of the personal data to other entities to the necessary extent.


CONCLUDING REMARKS

Submitting a film to the Festival means that you accept these regulations. The matters not included in the regulations are resolved by the Festival Director.
