Ballet Intensive Program students must outline the selection of any additional classes.
Please note that the day and/or time of lessons have changed from the previous season to accommodate grade changes throughout the school. See in detail below the specific grade changes.
We have established some age-related classes as well as level-associated classes to ensure our students and adults are in the correct class for their age and level, the day and/or time may be different from the previous season.
The timetable is subject to minor changes. Classes with insufficient registrations may be cancelled or students may be moved to another class.
Please note:
Students will be assed on their ability and will be moved up accordingly. Your child's school grade does NOT reflect their ballet class grade.
o Pre-Ballet, Pre-Primary, and Primary Ballet are now age-related. Your child must be the minimum age listed to attend the class.
o If your child is 7 years, and has not previously done Grade 1 or danced at the equivalent level, they will be in Primary Ballet.
o If your child was in Grade 1, they will now be in Grade 2.
o If your child was in Grade 2, they will now be in Grade 3/4.
o If your child was in Grade 3/4, they will now be in Grade 5.
o If your child was in Grade 4, they will now be in Grade 5.
Note: Students who are in Grade 5 and above have the opportunity to be considered for the Ballet Intensive Program. All students from Intermediate Foundation and above will become part of the Ballet Intensive Program with acceptance. Grade 5 students will be informed if they have been accepted into the Ballet Intensive Program. Students who have not been accepted into the Ballet Intensive Program may attend any Open classes of their choosing. During the months of September/October some adjustments to Grade/Levels may be made to ensure your child is in the correct level for their ability.
If you are unsure which level to select, please get in touch with us to discuss.
We will be offering the opportunity to take ballet exams to all students from Primary and above. This is based on the assessment of ability by faculty at ODCS. We will only enter students into an exam if they are ready.
*Students who attended Intermediate ballet in 2022/2023 and did not take their Intermediate exam may move into Advanced 1, however they will not be able to take their Advanced 1 exam without taking their Intermediate exam.
