Dear First-Year Engineering Students,

Congratulations! You have decided to embark upon a journey that will be both challenging and rewarding. It is my pleasure to welcome you to PESCE. The next 4 years will be exciting ones, filled with long, caffeine-fueled nights where you struggle with boundary conditions, have heated arguments as to whether it’s “math” or “maths,” and in general, question your life choices.
The first year of BE is perhaps one of the most important and pivotal years of your educational journey. It is a year that can shape your future permanently. Accordingly, you must give it the attention and dedication it deserves. The pursuit of an engineering degree is hard work, yet amazingly exciting. As you develop intellectually, during your educational journey, you will be challenged and disputed, you will experience highs and lows, you will work harder than you think you are presently capable and you will accomplish more than you think is achievable. You will then discover that this process of maturing intellectually is an art to be learned and an effort to be sustained to become what you dream of becoming.
The first year of BE is exciting and challenging and there may be a period of adjustment, both academically and socially. To help you adjust to the First-Year Engineering, PESCE recommends the “Student Induction Program” a series of activities that address new students’ needs.
When new students enter PESCE, they also come with diverse thoughts, backgrounds, and preparations. They come into a new unfamiliar environment and many of them have little knowledge of our institute. The purpose of the “Student Induction Program” is to, help new students to feel the comfortness in the new environment, inculcate the ethos and culture of the PESCE, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members, and expose them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration.
