HAABE Appointed Positions Nomination Form
Please complete this form to show your interest in being considered for an appointed position on the HAABE Board.  The nomination form is open from December 27, 2023 to January 9, 2024.

In order to be on the HAABE Board, you need to be a current HAABE Member.  If you are not a current HAABE Member, you can become a member by following this link: http://haabe.org/join-haabe.html

Selected appointed members will be contacted by January 12, 2024. 

Please see the description of each position below.

Recording Secretary
  • Shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Association and of its Executive Board.
  • Shall keep accurate records of the Association and keep the files thereof.
  • Shall keep attendance of members present at the meetings.
  • Shall record and distribute the Executive Board meeting minutes to the Executive Board. (These records shall include but are not limited to minutes, agendas, and correspondence.)
  • Shall preserve and maintain records in a shared-permanent file and make these records available to HAABE members.
  • Shall make all documentation available to any HAABE members at the HAABE office and/or on the HAABE website, upon request within 30 days. If a hardcopy of records is requested, then the actual cost for reproducing and mailing shall be covered by the member requesting such records.
  • Shall provide a report about the Executive Board Meetings held annually.
  • Shall create a specific and measurable annual goal related and track progress toward the goal during the year.

Newsletter Editor
  • Shall collaborate and coordinate with all HAABE Board members to capture board updates, news, events, celebrations, promotions, etc., to showcase in the Board’s newsletter.
  • Shall write, edit and publish updates, news, articles, resources, etc., on Board’s newsletter twice a semester.
  • Shall conduct research around bilingual education, law and policy to serve multilingual learners and disseminate through newsletter.
  • Shall collaborate and coordinate with the Corresponding Secretary, Public Relations and Webmaster/Social Media offices to disseminate the newsletter to members and community partners via email, website, and social media platforms.
  • Shall create a specific and measurable annual goal related and track progress toward the goal during the year.

BESO Representative
  • Shall collaborate and coordinate with all HAABE Board members to represent the interests of the student members.
  • Shall recruit and coordinate student volunteers to support HAABE events, such as Teacher of the Year and professional development offerings.
  • Shall collaborate and coordinate with local colleges and universities to increase BESO/student membership and involvement in HAABE.
  • Shall collaborate and coordinate with the Newsletter Editor, Webmaster/Social Media and Public Relations offices to share current research, articles, news, etc.
  • Shall create a specific and measurable annual goal related and track progress toward the goal during the year.
