Thank you for your interest in the Summer Careers Academy (SCA)! 

As you know, the SCA is an innovative eight-week career training model and the inaugural program is focused on the skilled trades, called “Building Our Future” (BOF) 

BOF is a Registered Youth Apprenticeship program and students, called Pre-Apprentices, receive free in-classroom training (two days a week) and paid on-the-job work experience (three days a week) as well as complimentary equipment and critical ongoing supports to ensure success, such as food, transportation, language, and career services. 

Pre-Apprentices who successfully complete the program earn academic credit, industry-recognized certificates (NCCER, OSHA-10, and CPR/First Aid), and are prepared for full time employment in construction occupations (such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and HVAC-R repair) or are college-ready and may continue to “earn and learn” through a Registered Apprenticeship Program. 

Employers who engage with the SCA access a compelling new talent pool, proactively develop their future workforce with little risk, and work together with other employers in the industry to address the skilled trades interest gap.
