Effective Altruism NZ Summer Retreat - Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th January - Expressions of Interest

In January 2020 there will be a summer retreat in the beautiful mountains of Arthurs Pass.

Please fill in this form if you are interested in coming for some or all of the retreat - you don't have to commit to coming yet - this is really an expression of interest.

The retreat is designed for people who are familiar with effective altruism, and are dedicated to improving the world using evidence and analysis, whether by donating, volunteering, or through their career. While we will hopefully be able to accommodate everyone who is interested, there is a limited number of places, so please fill in this form and we will confirm! The retreat will be held at the Arthurs Pass Outdoor Education Centre: https://www.ymcachch.org.nz/apoec/, Accommodation is in shared bunkrooms. If you need or want a private room you can still join us at a reduced rate by booking nearby private accommodation for yourself (please let us know if you want to take that option)

We plan to organise car or van transportation from Christchurch city and airport to the retreat, and may have a couple of pick up and drop off times so people who can't come for the whole time can still attend.

We expect that the retreat will cost about $200 per person for the whole retreat, including food (hopefully a little less). This will depend on the number of people coming as it is a fixed rate for the lodge.

Costs will be less for those that can’t come for the whole time.

However, we hope to get funding to help pay for retreat costs and transportation! So apply even if you don't have the $$$ to come!

If you weren't at last year's retreat, please tell us a little bit about yourself, your involvement in EA so far, and your plans for making an impact in the future.

Do you have any dietary requirements?

Do you need or want funding to come? We may get a grant to help low income and student EAs with their flights and the cost of the retreat. Please outline what funding you would like to be considered for, e.g. Flights+ retreat, retreat only. Please include whether funding will be the deciding factor for your attendance.

Can you spare some additional money to help low-income and student EAs attend? If so, how much are you able to offer? (Note, we will only ask for this money if and when we need it)
