Lesson Dates *
Topic of Lesson *
Stated Objectives *
What, specifically, should the student be able to do, understand, care about as a result of the teaching?
Anticipatory Set *
Anticipatory sets are activities aligned with student learning objectives that set the stage for immediate learning opportunities. Also called hooks, bridges and attention grabbers, these activities engage students’ prior knowledge and interest at the very beginning of a class period. Read more at http://bit.ly/HunterAnticipatorySet.
Input *
This is the direct instruction portion of the lesson. What vocabulary, skills, and concepts will you include/share? This can be through lecture, YouTube video, pictures, etc.
Modeling *
How will the vocabulary/skills/concepts be modeled for students? You or another expert can model the process. You may have students model for peers.
Check for Understanding *
How will you assess (during instruction) that students are understanding clearly and can apply the skill/concept correctly?
Guided Practice *
Prior to students working independently, guided practice allows students to apply what they know and demonstrate understanding as you work together. This could be in whole group or small group practice. Students should receive immediate feedback and correction as needed. Tell how you will incorporate guided practice into the learning activity.
Independent Practice *
This is sometimes called homework but can also take place during class. Tell about what students will do independently to apply the new learning and demonstrate mastery.
Closure *
"Closure is the act of reviewing and clarifying key points of a lesson, tying them together into a coherent whole and securing them to the student's conceptual networks." Read more at http://bit.ly/HunterClosure
