Health - Offered 2nd & 3rd Quarter - Mr. Gardner
Prereq -
Target: 7th Grade ONLY - REQUIRED
Description: 7th graders will take this either Quarter 2 or Quarter 3. If you don't want to do Math Counts in Quarter 2, mark this as #1, so you will take it Quarter 2. If you want to do Math Counts in Quarter 2, this Health Elective will need to be taken Quarter 3. Mark this is as number 2 or 3 based on which Quarter you want to take it. Example: Quarter 2, select 2 / Quarter 3, select 3. This is just for 7th grade, so 6th and 8th can put this last as #7 or 8.
Science Fair - Quarter 2 - New Science Teacher
Prereq - Love Science
Target: 8th Grade ONLY
Must love science! Will do projects and experiments. Projects will compete in the science fair. 8th Graders rate Science Fair as #1 if interested. If not, rate this with a 5-8. For 6th and 7th graders, rate this last as #7 or 8.
Math Counts - Quarter 2 - Chad Cunningham -
Target: Advance Math Students - Must have A or B in Math
Do you love math? Then this class is for you! We will dive head first into multiple-layered word problems, geometry, probability, algebra, and more! All you need is a desire to persevere and problem solve through advanced math problems. Opportunities are available to compete in regional, state, and national competitions. If you are a 7th grader, you will take your required Health Class Quarter 3, rate Math Counts as #1. If not, rate this with a 5-8.
Band - All Quarters - Mr. Saletta
Prereq - Love Music
Target: All Grades
Description: Any 6th grade student interested in Band or checking it out, NEED to take this Quarter 1. All other 7 - 8th students who are joining for the first time need to speak to Mr. Saletta or office about enrolling.
********7th & 8th returning students, you may have one quarter off to take a different elective. I would suggest taking Band, Quarter 1 if you are interested in either Math Counts or Science Fair in Quarter 2. Mark Band as #1 and either Math Counts or Science Fair #2 if you want to take one of those electives Quarter 2.
Strength & Conditioning - Offered Quarter 1 & Quarter 4 - Mr. Gardner

Description: Students will engage in intense cardiovascular exercise and strength training. There is a lot of running and weightlifting in this course. If you’ve taken it before, your priority is low to give others the opportunity. Max: 15 students

Description: What do you think makes a photograph great? Do you want to take fun, interesting photographs of people, places, and pets to post for your friends or hang on your wall? Photo images are everywhere today. Sometimes we see hundreds in one day. But it’s obvious that not all photographs are the same. In Middle School Photography 1a: Introduction, you’ll learn how to take those excellent, jaw-dropping photographs that you see in magazines and on your favorite social media sites. Learn the basics of using a camera, the elements of composition, and how to avoid common photography mistakes.

Description: Students will begin or continue to study art. We will explore what it means to be an artist, technical skills for particular processes, and understanding/using the language of artists. In the Spring there will be a large all school art show, Students must be in art elective 3rd or 4th quarter to have art in the Art Show.

Description: The Intro to Coding class introduces the basics of programming and has been designed for complete beginners. The class is highly visual, dynamic, interactive, and engaging. Students will learn to code using text or blocks (drag and drop) in Javascript and using text in the Python programming language. With a unique focus on creativity, problem solving and project based learning, Intro to Coding gives students the opportunity to explore several important topics of computing using their own ideas and creativity to develop an interest in computer science that will foster further endeavors in the field.
