The Back to School Program is a partnership between the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services (DSS) and Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Those students that are receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance and or Temporary Cash Assistance benefits are the children/students prioritized for the Back to School Program.
Businesses, community organizations, non-profit organizations, schools, churches, and individuals donate their time and monetary support to try to provide all students in need with a backpack and school supplies.
Donors purchase supplies and backpacks from a list we provide and deliver the items to the Elementary School directly; the School Counselors work directly with DSS to oversee this program. Backpacks and supplies are delivered the third week in August to the school. Backpacks and Supplies cost an average of $50-$75 per student.
