Dear Parents/Guardians:

Your child has expressed an interest in beginning band lessons as part of the elementary band program of Norwalk Public Schools.  Learning to play an instrument in elementary school will enable your child to join the school band during his/her elementary years and to become a member of one of the performing groups that are held during the regular school day. Each child is responsible for providing his/her own instrument (through purchasing or renting through a music store, and/or borrowing from family or a friend).  There are also a very limited number of instruments available from school for students in great financial need.

This letter serves both as a preliminary introduction to our elementary band program and as a means of determining if parents are interested in having their children take advantage of this opportunity.  PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE no later than Friday, September 17th.  Responding to this message will ensure the following:

Your child will be interviewed by Mr. Nunes to make sure their physical characteristics are appropriate for the instrument desired.
You will receive a notice recommending which instrument your child is best suited to play.
You will be given information concerning how you go about renting an instrument.

Su hijo ha expresado un interés en comenzar las clases de banda como parte del programa de banda primaria de las Escuelas Públicas de Norwalk. Aprendiendo como tocar un instrumento en la escuela primaria le permitirá a su hijo unirse a la banda escolar durante sus años de primaria y convertirse en miembro de uno de los grupos durante el día escolar regular.

Cada niño es responsable de conseguir su propio instrumento (se pueden compran o alquilan un instrumento por una de las tiendas de música y/o pedir prestado a familiares o amigos). Hay un número muy limitado de instrumentos disponibles en la escuela para estudiantes con grandes necesidades financieras.

Esta carta sirve como una introducción preliminar a nuestro programa de banda de primaria y como un medio para determinar si los padres están interesados en que sus hijos aprovechen esta oportunidad. POR FAVOR RESPONDA A ESTE MENSAJE antes del viernes 17 de septiembre. Responder a este mensaje garantizará lo siguiente:

El Sr.Anthony Nunes entrevistará a su hijo para asegurarse de que sus características físicas sean apropiadas para el instrumento deseado.
Recibirá un aviso recomendando el instrumento que su hijo es el más adecuado para tocar.
Recibirá información sobre alquilando un instrumento.
