Created for Greatness Mentoring Program

Dear Mentor,

Welcome to our Created for Greatness mentoring program!

We appreciate your interest in mentoring a student. Mentoring is a research-based intervention that promotes positive youth development by building developmental assets and resiliency, both factors are crucial to successfully navigating school and life. Mentoring guarantees that a young person has someone who cares about them and that they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges.

Created for Greatness (CFG) is a school-based mentoring program that matches adult community members with youth at Pottstown Middle and High School. Once matched, mentors and students will either meet for lunch together for 30 minutes, once a week—OR— meet for 30 minutes during the morning mentoring block, once a week. When committing to the weekly lunch option for mentoring, we ask that mentors provide a lunch twice a month from the students favorite fast food restaurant. We believe connecting through food is a great way to establish mentorship relationships with each other. We also give an option for mentors to support students academically in one-on-one, group or classroom setting during the school day.  As of now, CFG mentors commit to mentoring for at least one school year with the potential for a multi-year commitment.  Ideally, a consistent mentoring relationship that continues from middle school through high school is proven to have a more significant impact on the life of a young person.

It is remarkable how contributing less than an hour a week can make such a big difference in a child’s life. Thank you for your interest in CFG and for making a difference in a young person’s future.
