The Town of Granby, the Granby Public Art Committee & Destination Granby are pleased to host a music and arts festival featuring a juried mural show where artists will be painting fish cut from large MDO boards to be mounted and prominently displayed along HWY 40 on the "long wall" in downtown Granby. This is the first of it's kind for the Town of Granby and we plan to make this an annual signature event each Labor Day weekend.

Events planned include:
- Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10 am artists begin painting their fish mural
- Saturday, September 4, 2021, 5 live music acts perform at Polhamus Park while artists paint their murals, interactive community art displays for attendees throughout the park, food and beverage vendors serving.

Contest Rules

1) Application and Art must be approved by Granby PAC (Public Arts Committee).

2) Submission is free. $50 entry fee due for artists that are selected. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend upon check-in.

3) Must bring own supplies (Primed fish panels provided by Granby PAC). Please be prepared for the weather–a vendor tent is strongly recommended.

4) Each Artist must sign in at Check-in on Friday, between 8 AM and 10 AM, before any work begins.

5) Painting times 10 AM – 6 PM Friday and 9 AM – 6 PM Saturday. All painting must be completed by Saturday 9/4/2021 at 6 PM.

6) Paint an approximately 3.5ft x 8ft primed fish cutout. Mural must be painted to edges of primed panel. Choose one of 3 different fish silhouettes, for your sketch, and that fish shape will be assigned to you on a first come first serve basis (until the allotted amount of cutouts for that shape runs out), then if required you may select from remaining options.

7) No projectors or painting during off hours. Stencils OK.

8) This is a competition, competing for awards –

2nd place $1000
3rd place $750

No profanity or nudity on murals allowed. Please submit a concept and/or sketch.

9) Artist is responsible for lodging.

10) Must be present to win.

11) Artwork will be auctioned off prior to next year's mural fest and proceeds will benefit the Granby Public Art Committee and its projects.
