18th Annual Whitney Awards Judge Application
Thank you for your interest in judging the Whitney Awards! Without your help, our program could not continue.

This is not a guarantee that you will be selected as a judge (we have to guage how many judges volunteer for each category, and we try to vary the judges in each category to get different perspectives every year).

Please indicate your preferences below, and we will send out more information and category assignments as soon as possible. Feel free to email WhitneyAwardsContact@gmail.com or post to our social media accounts with any questions.

Have you been a first-round judge in the past? If so, which category/ies?
Judges may not judge a category within which a close friend or family member is a nominee. Are you aware of any novels by close friends or family members which are likely to be nominated during the 17th Annual awards year (Published November 1st, 2022-October 31st, 2023)? If so, please tell us the author name so we can assign you accordingly.
Is there a marginalized group for which you are willing and able to be a sensitivity reader? For example, you identify with a marginalized religion, ability, race, gender identity, orientation, etc.  If yes, please provide any details to your comfort level below.
Do you know someone who would be a good Whitney Awards judge? This includes responsible teen readers who may be interested in judging the YA and MG categories.  We'd love to know their name and email address, as well as why they would make a good judge. Thank you!
