The League of Michigan Bicyclists has released a position statement, in the form of an open letter to Chief Ron Olson of the Parks and Recreation Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, on the topic of electric mountain bikes' access to natural surface non-motorized trails in Michigan.

The statement supports a policy change to allow Class 1 e-bikes for all, and adaptive bikes including Class 2 e-bikes for those with a disability in need of accommodations, and further proposes nine steps for the DNR to take to minimize any negative impacts from this change.
