DISH: Discussing Intimacy, Sex, and Healing
What's the DISH? DISH is a space for Queer & Trans Black, Indigenous, & People of Color to come together over food, and have conversations about intimacy, sex/sexuality, and healing. There will be a few prompt questions sent out in advance based on your responses, and opportunities to come up with your own questions during DISH.

Registration link: tinyurl.com/qnpDISH
Meets every other 3rd Wednesday, 6-8pm PST: 3/20, 5/15, 7/17, 9/18, 11/20

Next DISH On May 15th, we will be delving into the following questions:
*Note these questions will likely shift as people register - LeMing will come back and edit/add questions on this form based on how people respond and what topics/questions participants are posing in this form.
  • How are you currently exploring intimacy, sex, sexuality, and healing? What ways has your healing changed how you explore relationships?
  • How are you building relationships and connections in your life? What allows you to lean into the monogamous, open, polyamorous, platonic, familial, and other personal relationships in your life?
  • What forms of intimacy are you exploring these days? Sex? Kink? Physical touch? Platonic? Spiritual? What makes you feel safe, comfortable, curious, and connected to yourself and others?
  • How do your relationships to yourself, to your loved ones, and your communities create pathways to pleasure, healing, and liberation?
In Person @ API Chaya Office (a confidential location). There is an elevator, and the office is ADA accessible. Power chairs can also move through the space. We try to keep our office a scent-free space, and we will have two air purifiers going in the room where we meet. However, we ask that attendees refrain from wearing scented products such as perfumes, colognes, lotions & hair products with "fragrance" added in the ingredients. Note: In July, we will meet at a different location than the office TBA!

Virtual via zoom. Link provided upon registration.

COVID-19 Policy:
Current API Chaya protocol is for attendees to please wear a mask when not eating, rapid test either before arriving or when you get to the event, and to stay home and attend virtually if you are not feeling well. For many immune compromised individuals, the COVID-19 pandemic is still a serious health concern, so let's take care of our community together!

API Chaya's Queer Network Program is an organizing body for QTBIPOC survivors, dedicated to building community through healing gatherings, food, intergenerational support groups, racial and disability justice, political education, skill shares/trainings, resource/fund redistribution, and intentionally partnering with Black, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, and immigrant queer/trans leaders.

Please email LeMing (they/them) at leming@apichaya.org, text them at (253) 237-2639, or schedule a check-in by signing up on their calendar at calendly.com/queernetwork if you have questions, concerns, or just want to connect! Community Guidelines for Queer Network Program
  • We’re all coming from different social and physical locations, which impacts how we engage in these conversations.
  • Our comfort levels will be different, as we’ve been taught not to talk about these topics, let alone as QTPOC, as survivors, as people who at times have caused harm.
  • We just ask that folks check in before offering explicit or immersive details.
  • Asking consent in conversations--before offering advice or feedback, asking if it’s wanted. And naming boundaries in conversations.
  • Speak from our own experiences, and we want to keep folks’ identities and stories confidential.
  • Accept and expect non-closure, two hours is not a long time together and there’s just no way we can wrap a bow around these conversations.
  • Shared hand signals for: slow down, spell names/non-English words for captioner, speak up, one at a time.
  • All participation is invited, we welcome a balance of listening, speaking, chat sharing, react emojis, etc.
  • We may DM folks with invitations to share, to listen more, etc.
  • Folks can add to these guidelines during our session.
Do you agree to abide by the community guidelines to the best of your ability? *
