Advancement Via Individual Determination: A full-year academic elective designed to support students to be successful in a rigorous course of study that will enable them to enroll and graduate from a four-year university.

Be sure to ask many questions when you are interviewed by the high school AVID teachers and counselors. It is important that you volunteer to be part of the program, and that you understand what AVID is really like.

Listed below are some of the things you will need for your interview:
1. A completed application form and the written interview
2. A writing sample from your English class (if you can)
3. A recommendation from at least one teacher, (more than one is also fine).
