BOOKS THAT INSPIRE
… using children’s literature to teach musical concepts in the Orff classroom

In this workshop participants will explore the use of children’s literature as inspiration for musical composition and instruction. Elements of music such as timbre, form, dynamics and tempo will be approached through award-winning children’s books. The analysis of literature for this use will be presented, as well as its alignment with existing curriculum.

Susanne Burgess is a retired Orff-Schulwerk certified music educator whose forty-year career included work with infants to adults.
