Tabacka Kulturfabrik performing art residency

Tabacka Kulturfabrik is a cultural centre and an open zone for art, creativity and cooperation. It is an unmissable cultural point of the city and the region, a place for presentation and production of various genres of contemporary art (concerts, theatre, dance, new circus, exhibitions, multicultural events, interactive installations, workshops, lectures) and number of community activities. With its activity it supports an open way of thinking, creativity, provides an educational background and develops a critical thinking. www.tabacka.sk

In 2021, we are pleased to announce a series of residencies focusing on performance that will be made available through a call for proposals.
TBCK forward perform is supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council.

We are currently accepting proposals for the following residency periods in 2022:

24.01. - 06.02.
07.02. - 20.02.
21.02. - 06.03.
07.03. - 20.03.
21.03. - 03.04.
04.04. - 17.04.
18.04. - 01.05.
(suggestions of the time of residency are not binding for the organizers of the residency)

WHAT DOES THE TBCK FORWARD OFFER?

Artists in residence have full access to the BLACK BOX at Tabacka Kulturfabrik and shared use of the common spaces MID BOX.

In addition, we are able to provide the following:
Stipend for a maximum of 4 participants (200 EUR per participant)
Local accommodation for maximum of 2 participants
Travel to and from Košice (real costs, max. 300 EUR)
Technical support, by arrangement.


WHAT DO WE EXPECT ?

Artists in residence will be asked to host one public session during their residency period. These public sessions might includ work-in-progress showings, informal conversations about current research interests, film screenings, and workshop formats. We are happy to discuss your project and ideas for the public session ahead of the residency period.


WHO SHOULD APPLY?

We invite proposals for projects at any stage of development (research, creation, development, or revision of an existing work) from individual artists or collectives, living in V4 region. For this call, we will be giving particular attention to proposals from artists who has ambition to reflect and to strengthen the rights and position of women worldwide.

We are most interested in projects grounded in experimental or research-based practices in the performing arts — generally, theatre, dance, or performance. We welcome proposals that approach or involve other practices or disciplines.


HOW TO APPLY ?

Completed form must be submitted online by minimum at least 15 days before planning date of rezidences.
All applicants will be informed of the final selection by 5 day from submitting the form. The selection of residents will be presented by a commission composed of a representative of the professional public, a representative of the cultural center and the dramaturg of the TBCK forward performance residency program. The selected candidates will be contacted by email by 5 day from submitting the form.
