YW for Change Application 2022-23

Thank you for your interest in YW for Change at the YWCA's Helen Claytor Center for Girls' Leadership.

Helen Claytor Center for Girls’ Leadership programming is open to girls and gender-expansive/nonbinary youth.

Meetings dates/times are subject to change based on participant feedback but tentatively scheduled as follows:

Middle School : Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00 pm
High School: Thursdays, 6:00-8:00 pm

While encouraged, participation in every meeting is not required.

Topics and Social Issues

Please note: YW for Change programming is centered around social justice.

The topics discussed include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership and Self Confidence
Racial Justice
LGBTQIA+ Rights
Sexism and Gender Equity
Sexual Health and Justice
Intersectionality
Identity
Privilege and Power
Violence and Oppression
Feminism

We recognize that we all have different experiences, knowledge, and comfort levels with topics like those mentioned above.

Our programming is intentionally set up to provide space for everyone to learn/unlearn together- even when the process may not be easy or comfortable.
