Run by the Environmental Education Program at
Trip is somewhat strenuous! Here's some good practices and precautions for our activities.
MANDATORY:

• Please bring a water bottle and any snacks you think you may need. We will have a water cooler for refills.
• Wear shoes laced tightly or strapped firmly so they won't slip off. An old pair of sneakers or a pair of river shoes are the best choices. Crocs, Chacos, Tevas, Velcro Strap Sandals are also good. No slides allowed.

GOOD PRACTICES:

• One of the most important rules for dressing for paddling is: DON'T WEAR COTTON! Cotton not only gets wet fast, it stays wet for a long time. Wear clothes made of quick-dry materials like nylon and polyester. Check your clothing labels to pick the right fabric/materials. Denim, for example, should be completely avoided. It’s not just submersion that can get you wet, but paddle drip, spray from waves and sweat.

• Please expect to be paddling 2-3 hours and carrying canoes.

• There’s little protection from the sun when you’re on the water. Add a layer of sunscreen, and reapply it as the day progresses, or if you get wet. We will have extra sunscreen if you need. Wearing hat, sunglasses and UV protection clothing is recommended as well.

• The canoe floor may get a little wet. Keep that in mind when choosing how to carry your belongings with you. Dry bags or ziplock bags can help keeping your belongings dry, especially your phone and wallet. Keep your belongings secured in your bag and be careful to not drop anything from the canoe as most times objects can't be retrieved.

• Please arrive on time. We want to be safe and paddle during the right tide window.
Support our RiverGuides program!
If you would like to donate to our program, the suggested donation is $15 to $30 per person. Payable on the day of the paddle with cash or check (make the check payable to the RiverGuides program).

Paddles are free for Camden residents and UrbanPromise friends!
