Perfect for Parents & Teachers/ School Professionals

Are you the parent, teacher or school professional for a child with selective mutism? If so, this virtual workshop is for you!  Do you know someone else who is?  Great!  Forward this to them!

Selective Mutism is a complex anxiety disorder characterized by a child’s inability to speak and communicate effectively in select social settings, such as school.  Children with selective mutism are able to speak and communicate in settings where they are comfortable, secure, and relaxed.

For a child struggling with selective mutism, it is important for parents and teachers to understand what works and does not work for a child with SM.

In this workshop we will discuss: The basics of SM, current research and treatment of SM, how anxiety affects the brain, skills you can implement NOW to help your child, learn parent child interaction therapy skills (CDI (PRIDE skills), VDI skills), role play for proficiency, set appropriate goals for your child and how to get help at school.

This virtual workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM (Arizona Time).  This workshop is for parents and teachers/ school professionals only. Children will not be included in this workshop.

Workshop Cost

Individual Parent/Caregiver: $200

2 Person Rate: $300*

Discounted rate for Teacher/ School Professional: $100 (a qualifying school email address is required to receive this discounted rate)

* 2 Person Rate:   The 2 Person Rate is designed primarily for spouses/partners/co-parents who care for the same child with SM. When registering at the 2 Person Rate, each person must have access to a device to access the online format. We highly recommend computers, but iPads/tablets can be used.  Both participants registered should be in separate rooms during the training to prevent feedback/technological interference. It is necessary to register both members of the 2 person rate so our ratios for role play practice can be accounted for.  Only those with paid registrations will be able to participate in the role play activities, which are a large part of the training.  If family members would like to listen in the background to the teaching part of the training and NOT participate in the practice sessions/role play, they do not need to register.  Only one entrance into the training will be allowed per individual registered.  Two entrances to the training will be allowed per 2 Person rate registration.

Upon completion of this form, you will receive an invoice from Simply Psychology, LLC for your registration which will be due upon receipt. Current clients of Simply Psychology, LLC can choose to charge their registration fee to their card on file.   Spots are limited and will only be confirmed with your paid registration. Certificates of Attendance can be provided upon request, and must be requested prior to the start of the workshop.  This will only be issued if you attend and participate in the workshop for the entire 4 hours.
