If you have not found a term in DeCS and would like it to be included in the vocabulary, consider the following information, and fill in the required fields below.
DeCS was developed from MeSH (Medical Subject Headings, of the National Library of Medicine - NLM, USA) in order to allow the use of consistent terminology and provide a single means, regardless of language, for the indexing of scientific documents as well as for the search and retrieval of subjects in scientific literature in LILACS, MEDLINE and other databases of the VHL - Virtual Health Library (
http://regional.bvsalud.org/en/).
DeCS/MeSH is therefore a four-language version of MeSH expanded by five more categories (exclusive to DeCS/MeSH): Science and Health [SH], Homeopathy [HP], Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicines [TM], Public Health [SP] and Health Surveillance [VS].
If the concepts that you wish to represent by means of descriptors fit in one of these five exclusive categories of the DeCS/MeSH your request will be analyzed by the BIREME team.
If the candidate term belongs to one of the other 16 categories that are owned by MeSH, in due course the request will be reviewed for forwarding to the NLM, or if you prefer, you can send the suggestions directly to the NLM, in the proper form, adequately justifying the creation of descriptors, in a message under the title “MeSH New Term” from the following address:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/meshsugg.html.
Please fill in one answer for each suggested term.
We appreciate your contribution.
