AFP South Sound Mentee Application
Application Deadline for Mentees: August 25, 2023

Sometimes this fundraising life can leave us feeling isolated and alone, wrestling with challenges in our organization alone. Wouldn't it be nice to have a colleague on call to reach out to and help navigate some of the hard, fun, awesome, incredible parts of this work? If you think so too, sign up to be a mentee today!

AFP South Sound provides members many opportunities to connect and build community. One opportunity is a unique learning journey through our mentoring program.

We match well-rounded mentors with individuals like YOU who are interested in learning more about fundraising or want to co-learn with a trusted colleague. This provides focused discussions, problem solving and sharing the trials and tribulations of working in this dynamic (yet sometimes challenging) industry.

Mentee applicants will be matched with a mentor on a first come, first served basis until all of the slots are filled. We recommend that mentors and mentees tell their employers about their participation in the program. Both must respect that the information they share about their organizations is confidential.

Apply today to join us!

Mentee requirements for participation:
- Membership in AFPSS.
- A minimum of one year of development experience (volunteer fundraising counts).
- Adherence to the AFP Ethical Principles and Standards
- An interest in learning from or co-learning with an experienced fundraising professional.
- A commitment to working with your Mentor for 1 year
o Minimum of 4 face-to- face or virtual meetings, phone calls, and emails
o Recommended joint attendance in 1 or more fundraising continuing education course

Our matching process:
1. Mentor/Mentee pairs will be assigned by the membership committee based on the Mentees’ needs and Mentors’ experience. We will make every effort to pair Mentee’s with one of their choices submitted in the application.
2. Mentors and Mentees must be current AFPSS members, and Mentees must be in an active development role.
3. Workplace locations are taken into consideration when matches are assigned so that every effort can be made for the pairs to meet face-to- face.
4. The pairs will be monitored by the committee, with check-ins at least quarterly, and modifications will be made as needed. An end of year survey will be conducted to assess success/effectiveness of the program.
