Thomas Young Centre Interest Group sign-up form
Dear TYC members,

TYC Interest Groups are research topic-based groups, created to foster thematic networks for the wide range of interests among the 100+ research groups in the TYC.  The inception of Interest Groups at the TYC has allowed for a more structured organisation of our events programme, offering a greater balance topics, increased inclusivity, and increased attendance.

Please take 2 minutes of your time to complete the form, so that we can keep you informed of events which relate specifically to your area of research.

There are 5 interest groups - you may affiliate yourself with as many as are appropriate to your research:

IG1: Methods and Formalisms for Simulating materials
Spokesperson: Jan Tomczak (jan.tomczak@kcl.ac.uk)

IG2: Surfaces, Interfaces (including catalysis, electrochemistry, nanostructures)
Spokesperson: Clotilde Cucinotta, (c.cucinotta@imperial.ac.uk)

IG3: Functional Materials and Devices (including light-matter interactions, spectroscopy, excited states, photonics, plasmonics, solar energy conversion, electronic, thermal and ionic transport)

IG4: Soft and Biological Matter (including biochemistry, biophysics, biomaterials, statistical mechanics)
Spokesperson: Edina Rosta (e.rosta@ucl.ac.uk)

IG5: Structural Materials (including dislocations, rheology, chemimechanics, tribology)
Spokesperson: Dr Devis Di Tommaso, (d.ditommaso@qmul.ac.uk)

1. Everyone (TYC PIs, postdocs, students) will attend all five Highlight Seminars annually.
2. Interest Group members attend all ~3 TYC seminars organised by their Interest Group.
3. Interest Group members attend the 1-day annual group event organised by their Interest Group.

Please check the box for the Interest Group, or groups you would like to be affiliated to.

Would you consider acting as an Interest Group Lead at some point in the future? This would involve attending, and contributing to decision-making at fortnightly TYC Management Board meetings. Roles can rotate after a period of 1-2 years.  Johannes Lischner (j.lischner@imperial.ac.uk) oversees Interest Group activity.
