The Church Year concludes by looking back at Jesus' life and teaching from the wider view of his Second Coming.  These Sundays remind us that we live between Jesus' first and second comings, between his life with us and eternal life with God.  in Sunday's Gospel, Jesus tells his friends that even though many hard and sad things happen in our world, they must trust him.

Watch the video below and discuss the questions as a family.
This Gospel is written right before Jesus is to die and has foretold of his Resurrection.  His followers are impatient though and want to know when exactly he will return.  Have you ever had a time in your life when you were impatient to know when something was going to happen?
Jesus tells of all of the destruction that will happen before he returns.  None of this sound pleasant, but it is necessary to get to Jesus' Second Coming.  Can you think of a time when you had to go through something difficult to get to a better place in your life?  What did you have to go through?  How did you make it through?
Jesus talks this week about perseverance.  Like we talked about above, when we don't know when something is going to happen or we have to go through difficult things in life to get to something better, we all need to persevere.  When is a time you had to persevere in life?  Were you strong enough to get through what you were going through?  Did you have others you could count on during the process?
This week's Eucharistic Reflection tells us that we need to talk to Jesus through the Eucharist, and more importantly, listen for a response.  It is not easy to wait and listen for a response, but like the Gospel talks about this week, we need to persevere.  How can  you  take some extra time this week, either at Mass or at home, to talk to Jesus and listen for his response?
Do you have any questions about the Gospel?
