Thank you for your interest in NJSHP's Strive Towards Excellence Program (STEP)! This program was crafted out of feedback and input from various upperclassmen and current pharmacy professionals and was launched back in 2020. The 2023-2024 academic year will be the first year STEP is run in person and we look forward to leveraging the in-person setting to provide you with specially curated activities, events, and workshops as well as a worthwhile and fulfilling experience overall! In a nutshell, you will be able to learn essential skills to guide you through pharmacy school and your pharmacy career.

STEP is a unique multi-phase professional development mentorship program that will allow you to "step" through and build your technical and soft skills that will make you stand out for job opportunities while in school and residency programs or other post-graduation opportunities. 

As a summary, STEP is an umbrella program with two subprograms, each catered to certain class years. The preprofessional program will cover CV writing, LinkedIn and self marketing essentials, researching and presenting drug information, and introduction to OSCEs (a key aspect of the professional years). The professional program will over clinical skills preparation for APPE rotations, journal club presentations, SOAP notes, and residency FAQ. It is a program that assesses your level and progresses according to your own pace while at the same time giving you the opportunity to network with upperclassmen, residents, and faculty!
