Why are we asking this? Women business owners face unique challenges and there continues to be gaps in wages and business ownership between women and men.  For this question, we are following standard language from the Human Rights Campaign.

Why are we asking this? Race has been used as a tool to disinvest in communities and prevent individuals from achieving economic success. The impacts continue today. In order to combat the racial wealth gap and disparities in the cultural sector, we strive to exceed Tacoma's proportion of minority communities.
