CNR Code of Conduct
The CNR Basketball League facilitates basketball games with the goal of providing our children an opportunity to develop superior life skills through team play, sportsmanship, top competition, and hard work.  Our mission is to provide the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level possible with their individual ability, potential, and interest.  An emphasis on fair play and respect for all participants is a primary element of our league's mission. To better achieve that mission, we provide the following Code of Conduct for all CNR players, parents, officials and coaches.

The Code of Conduct can be summarized in the following three principles:  1. Respect, 2. Setting a good example, 3. Safety.

Respect:  Fans are expected to show respect for the game experience of others.  This includes respect to officials, site supervisors, opposing coaches and players. Fans are expected to refrain from foul or obscene language or behavior and any other consistent and/or pervasive conduct that could negatively impact fans, players, coaches, officials or supervisors.

Setting a good example:  Each person associated with CNR is accountable for his/her behavior at all times on and off the court. Parents, coaches, officials and other adults should remember that children learn by example.  It is up to the adults to set these good examples.

CNR will not tolerate conduct that is detrimental to the sport, the participants or the community.  Such conduct includes:  Vulgarity by coaches, players, officials or parents; harassment or belittling of officials, coaches or players; verbal abuse, threats or physical violence toward anyone before, during or after a game; and the taunting of opposing players, coaches, officials and parents. CNR prohibits the use of any racist or discriminatory language by players, coaches, fans or officials.

Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players and fans. This includes table personnel who assist in the game administration.

Safety:  The physical well-being of fans, players, coaches, officials and site supervisors is a top priority.  Any disruptive, irresponsible, and/or illegal behaviors that threaten the physical well-being of others are forbidden. This includes participating in or instigating altercations (physical or verbal). Fans are not to enter the playing court to address officials or coaches. Should a player be injured and the officials have stopped the game, the officials will beckon a parent on the court to assist with their child. Additionally, fans are not to address an official, opposing coach or opposing team's fans after a game.

Anyone who is determined to have engaged in conduct contrary to the values of the League and which otherwise violates this Code of Conduct Policy, will be subject to penalties including, but not limited to, ejection from the game site, suspension from future games or banned from attending any future CNR games.
