La Jolla Playhouse Education and Outreach Department presents: Excavating Escondido 2: Seeking Esperanza
In 1795, the native people of San Diego County hid for their safety from the Spanish Conquistadors in what would eventually become modern day Escondido. In 2019, a woman named Esperanza tells the story of her ancestors and how hope lives in every corner of their community. Join the students of Orange Glen High School, Del Lago Academy, Escondido High School, and San Pasqual High School for a devised , site specific, theatrical journey across the campus of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido as we step through time and explore a family history as rich as the ground it exists on.
This collaboration is in partnership with the California Center for the Arts, and supported by the generous funding of the Escondido Charitable Foundation.
