In Spring 2020, the African Studies Program is planning our annual DAY IN AFRICA event, an outreach program where Wisconsin high school students visit UW-Madison to explore a variety of Africa-related topics. For this coming spring, DAY IN AFRICA will take place on Tuesday, April 28th at the Union South.
We welcome EVERYBODY interested to present either a 60-minute hands-on/interactive session or a 40-minute presentation on your region or area of expertise.
We are hoping the 60-minute sessions involve interactive exchanges that will get students out of their chairs and engaging with the content. This includes music, dance, games, poetry, drama, art projects, or anything else that brings the topic to life. These sessions will last an hour from 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM. The African Studies Program can support the costs of basic materials associated with proposed activities (paper, paints, fabric etc.).
The other 40-minute session will be more lecture-type presentations. Presenters may choose to use PowerPoint or to show short films or other media. This second session will take place from 11:05 AM – 11:45 AM.
Are you interested but have questions or concerns? Come and discuss with our team about your ideas. We absolutely welcome all sorts of brainstorming sessions. Just let us know of a suitable time. And please don’t hesitate to email Sooji at
events@africa.wisc.edu if you have queries.
