Since 1979, passionate parents and concerned community leaders have worked together to support educational excellence in the schools of South Pasadena. SPEF has become known for programs and fundraisers that make a positive impact throughout our district.

Time Commitment and Responsibilities

Prospective candidates often ask about the time commitment and responsibilities of board members. Although participation varies, here is a baseline:
1. Two monthly meetings about one hour each, depending on the committee
2. Special meetings and receptions about 6 per year
3. General Committee works 25-50 hours per year

All members are expected to participate in the following activities:
1. Participate in Phone Banks for Fall Fund Drive
2. Deliver & Pick up yard signs - about 3 hours
3. Work at least one Summer Programs volunteer shift - about 3 hours
4. Help out at each of our events, including Parti Gras
