Local Northern Virginia hospitals are out or rapidly running out of N-95 "respirator" masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE). These are masks or PPE you may have bought for painting projects with fumes, for blocking smoke inhalation, for an emergency kit, or for personal use at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Health care workers are on the front lines of saving lives--and early data indicates that healthcare workers may be at higher risk of contracting COVID while treating patients. To keep them safe --and to support them in taking care of our friends, neighbors and community--they need these masks (and other PPE) NOW. Please consider donating to keep front-line health care workers healthy so they can save lives!
Leave your address below for a volunteer to collect the masks and other PPE from outside your door and get them to a local hospital or clinic who needs them. (Note: your address will only come to those of us organizing this effort and will NOT be shared publicly in any way.)
Also, we currently only have people collecting in the Northern Virginia area; if you are outside a 30 minute (no traffic) drive from NoVa, we may have a hard time arranging pickup. Go ahead and provide donation information and contact info and as organizing efforts expand, we will connect you if we can. Please consider donating directly to a local hospital or nursing home, though call first to make sure they can handle your donation.
See the website for more details on donations or volunteer sign-up. And please share with friends and neighbors!
3/22/20 Today is Day 1 of this effort so we will keep you updated on events as we proceed.
