LGBTQ Youth College Scholarship Application
The mission of the Latino Equality Alliance (LEA) is to advocate for equity,  safety, and wellness for the Latinx Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community. LEA is located at Mi Centro LGBTQ Community Center in Boyle Heights.

The Latino Equality Alliance Scholarship program supports LGBTQ+ students who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the mission of the LEA and the LGBT movement -- Application Deadline: May 1, 2020 at 11:59 PM. Awardees will be informed by May 15th, 2020. For more information and questions, please email leascholarships2020@gmail.com.

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
o   Currently graduating high school seniors accepted to an accredited college, university, or vocational school within Los Angeles County or;
o   Current college students attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school within Los Angeles County.
o   Proof of acceptance or attendance to an accredited college, university, or vocational school within Southern California will be required.
o   The scholarship is open to self-identified Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and to undocumented and Dream Act Students graduating high school seniors and/or currently attending college students.
o   Must have at least a 2.0 or above GPA.
o   Must demonstrate financial need.
o   Must be available to attend the Scholarships Award Banquet - Date TBD

§  Please note that this scholarship does involve some kind of public recognition which may include photos, video, public, interviews, newspaper publication, and social media postings.

Please submit two (2) letters of recommendations that may come from a Teacher, Administrator, Supervisor, and/or a family member (one letter must be from someone other than a family member) that describes your passion and drive for academic achievement and/or participation in extra-curricular activities. Send your letters of recommendation to: leascholarships2020@gmail.com.                                                                                                                                                            **In response to the COVID -19 pandemic, LEA has extended the deadline for applicants until May 1st. Additionally; LEA will also accept alternate submissions to meet the Letter of Recommendation requirement. If you are unable to meet the requirement for Letters of Recommendations, you may submit a project that you are proud of such as a Research Paper, Community Senior Project, or Speech for a Project written by you.
