2021-2022 Volunteer Sign-Up: NARST Graduate Student Committee
Interested in volunteering with the NARST Graduate Student Committee? Submit your name and contact info to get involved with planning NARST events. Below are descriptions of subcommittees you can volunteer for:

Graduate Student Forum Sub-Committee:
The Graduate Student Forum aims to guide and encourage beginning researchers by discussing the various parts of a graduate career, e.g., getting involved in NARST, completing the dissertation, or searching for a position. Attendees of the forum are given the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions with experienced colleagues on all matters of academic and professional interest.

Graduate Student Communications and Networking Sub-Committee:
The Graduate Student Communications and Networking Sub-Committee organizes several events and outreach initiatives year-round, including webinars, virtual writing groups, online discussion boards, newsletters, and one planned social at the annual conference. Taken together, these and other initiatives are efforts to promote the development of peer networks and collegiality among graduate students.

Graduate Student Research Symposium Sub-Committee:
The Graduate Student Research Symposium is a poster symposium is to provide mentoring and support for graduate students as they develop their research projects by providing an opportunity to present works-in-progress and receive feedback from scholars in the field. Students are matched with faculty based on research areas for individualized feedback at the NARST annual conference. Up to 20 graduate student submissions are accepted for this sponsored session.

Graduate Student Scholarship and Awards Sub-Committee:
The Graduate Student Scholarship and Awards Sub-Committee organizes a travel scholarship for graduate student attendance at the annual conference as well as an Excellence in Mentoring Award. These initiatives are efforts to aid new NARST graduate student members to be able to afford attending the conference and to recognize outstanding mentors of graduate students among the NARST membership.
