AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) is an elective class (two-year in middle school; four-year in high school) offered to students who would like to prepare for entrance into and success in a four-year university.  The curriculum features writing, inquiry, reading, collaboration, note taking, organization, time-management, study skills, and college/career activities.  The students participate in biweekly Socratic-style study groups centered on higher-level questions from content classes.  AVID students must be prepared to take notes in classes on a daily basis. Criteria taken into consideration for all applicants include: GPA, interview, citizenship, attendance, state test scores, and recommendations.
