Welcome to the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN) Academic Membership Application Form. The purpose of this form is to gather some information about you and your institution. Please complete the fields as much as you are able. There is a final question where you can add anything else that you think will be helpful.

There are three categories of Academic Membership:

1. Institution - for academic, research or knowledge organisations; individuals to apply under one of the two following categories.

2. Academic Staff -  includes personnel whose primary assignment is instruction, research, or public service. Your job title such as professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor, lecturer, or the equivalent of any of these academic ranks. The category includes personnel with other titles, (e.g. dean, director, associate dean, assistant dean, chair or head of department), if their principal activity is instruction or research. It does not include student teachers or teaching assistants. (OECD Definition)

3. Student - you will be currently enrolled at a university or tertiary institution and can demonstrate a commitment to circular economy research in Africa. You will be doing a Masters, PhD or post doctoral degree, where circular economy in Africa forms the basis of your research. You can be enrolled in a university that is either in Africa or elsewhere in the world. Once you have graduated, you can apply to one of the other ACEN Individual Membership categories.

Your application will be considered at the next monthly meeting of the Membership Committee and you will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible thereafter

At this stage, no fees are required to be an ACEN Academic Member. This will reviewed as the Academic Programme develops and an assessment is undertaken as to the resources required to run the programme.
