NC Disability & Disaster Virtual Hotline Training*
Saturday, May 30, 2020
9 a.m. - noon

Thank you for your interest in attending the NC Disability and Disaster Hotline training. Disability Rights North Carolina (DRNC), the Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies, the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center, and the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers have partnered to create a hotline that provides 24-hour assistance to people with disabilities who have been impacted by disasters.

We are seeking volunteer lawyers, paralegals, law students, social workers, and social work students to provide legal information, emergency disaster services and supports, and make appropriate referrals to eligible callers. The North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center and the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers are helping to recruit volunteers for this initiative. The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies will triage incoming calls, and DRNC will connect North Carolina callers to volunteer in this pilot program.

Volunteers can work at flexible times and locations. The work may be accomplished in any setting and does not require physical presence at a call center. Training will be provided to prepare all volunteers. See below for information on the first training.
