TES Theatre Company Code of Conduct

Expectations of our Community

At TES Theatre Company, we strive to create, maintain, and build upon an atmosphere where our students, teachers/staff and community members can thrive through:
--Respect
--Collaboration
--Creativity
--Safe self-expression

To achieve this goal, we ask all participants to acknowledge the following:

We will all strive to:
--Show respect for each other: Students, teachers/staff and community members alike will respect the rights and feelings of other participants. Bullying, name calling, intimidations, discrimination, bigotry of any kind, or any other form of emotional or physical abuse will not be tolerated.
--Behave professionally: Everyone is expected to work together in a professional and respectful manner. Appreciating individual differences, reasonable efforts are made to achieve comfortable social conditions for all. If personal differences arise, discussion with the teacher/staff is encouraged.
--Honour commitments: Students, teachers/staff (and other community members where applicable) will aim to arrive on time, to complete tasks by agreed upon deadlines, and strive to meet established expectations, or to communicate and ask for help if barriers to meeting deadlines arise.
--Limit distractions: Students and teachers/staff (and other community members where applicable) are asked to exhibit social and professional respect to each other by avoiding cell-phone use, disruptive behaviour, and side conversations during meetings and rehearsals.
--Communicate: Students and community members are encouraged to approach teachers or staff if they are ever uncomfortable, have concerns, or have new ideas. Teachers and staff will endeavour to always listen, take concerns seriously, and respond inclusively and appropriately.

If someone is unable to follow these expectations, one of more of the following steps may ensue:
--Discussion between student(s) and teachers/staff. In the case of younger members, the students’ families may be consulted as well, depending on the specific situation.
--Attempts will be made to identify and solve the problem. Resolutions will depend on the nature of the specific concern. Changes in behaviour may be requested.
--If solutions are impossible, if the situation repeats, or if the situation is unfairly disruptive, a student may be asked to leave the program at the program’s discretion.
