Bridging the Gap | November-December Call

This year the Duke Bridge and Duke Chronicle are partnering to create "Bridging the Gap", a podcast that hopes to touch on the experiences of Duke's diverse students of color.

We are operating during a time of great change, of calls for important shifts in systemically racist regimes. Duke University, though filled with diverse individuals both domestic and international, is not without its short falls, a fact which some of us at the Bridge have experience first hand.

We feel it is about time YOUR experiences are documented and shared widely with the whole of the Duke community: students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Please join us in sharing your stories by participating in this podcast.

If you have a story to tell or an experience to share, please fill out this form and we will follow up with you about an interview. If you are not comfortable sharing your name in the podcast, we are happy to make your statements anonymous.

For November-December, we are working on the following topics:

-Indigenous Experiences at Duke | How is the Duke experience for indigenous identifying students; maintaining a sense of culture and identity at a university where indigenous peoples are greatly underrepresented

-Environmental Justice and Representation | North Carolina is filled with environmental injustices. How does that fact show itself in Duke's environmental community. Thoughts on diverse representation in the environmental community

-Solidarity in Experience: What is Duke Doing Right | How do students feel about the opportunities for cultural engagement and support that is available to students. How has the student experience been engaging with diverse communities?

-How is diversity, equity, and inclusion perceived by those outside of BIPOC communities and conversations. How has race or ethnicity come up in white communities at Duke

Note: In line with the mission of the Bridge, we will be including creative content such as poetry, short stories, and other such creative storytelling in the podcast. If you're a creative writer with a piece you'd like shared in one of these session, click yes, below and we'll follow up.
