  • The Adventure Club school year starts Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
  • Available Shifts Include: 6:40am-7:25am; 6:45am-8:05am; 2:25pm-5:45pm; 3:00-5:45pm
  • College students, it is best to apply AFTER you have enrolled in classes, as this application asks for your availability.
  • If you are hired, you will need forms of ID in Columbia.  If you do not have forms of ID in Columbia, please take steps to get those forms of ID before applying or as soon as possible.  Refer to page 2 at this link for acceptable forms of ID.   I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification (uscis.gov)
Site Assistant Job Description
Adventure Club is an enrichment based before and after school and full-day care program based at elementary schools in the Columbia Public School District (CPS). All programs are licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Section for Child Care Regulation. We provide hands-on educational and recreational activities for children in a safe and caring environment. Adventure Club's purpose is to enhance the growth and development of children, families, staff, and communities we serve. If you enjoy working with children and are dependable, responsible, and energetic, Adventure Club may be a great fit. It is a great learning experience for future teachers and for those planning on working with children and families after graduation. Adventure Club has high expectations for its staff and their conduct. We strive to provide excellent programming for the children and families we serve, and our Site Assistants are key to our success. Your attitude, performance and initiative are direct reflections of your credibility and of the University of Missouri-Adventure Club’s quality.

Site Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of the children at all times while maintaining a fun and engaging atmosphere
  • Interact and develop positive relationships with all children and parents
  • Follow the daily schedule of the program and be consistent in all interactions with the children
  • Lead and participate in small and large group activities
  • Enforce safety rules and assist the children in problems-solving issues
  • Intervene when children are likely to injure themselves or others
  • Document and discuss individual child behavior or injuries
  • Communicate with parents and school personnel
  • Work together as a team with Site Facilitator and co-workers to ensure consistent and quality programming
  • Know and follow licensing, accreditation, and school procedures to safeguard the health and safely of the children, including handwashing, sanitary measures, playground rules and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment
  • Be familiar with the children’s files
  • Know the tornado, fire, and other emergency procedures
  • Know and follow all Adventure Club policies and procedures
  • MU and Columbia Public Schools (CPS) follow different calendars. Site Assistants will follow the CPS’s calendar. This entails working after finals week until CPS ends each semester and returning in January when CPS resumes. Adventure Club does not operate the week of Thanksgiving and Spring Break.
Adventure Club Expectations
  • Pays $14.15/hour •Attend 12 hours of professional development per year •Obtain and maintain adult and child CPR/First Aid certification •New Site Assistants must obtain a TB Risk Assessment and Physical •Complete a DHSS background check and 2 FBI fingerprint checks. No one may be employed if any felony or drug related felony or misdemeanor is found during the criminal background check or during employment.
Qualifications
  • Assistants must be at least 18 years of age and a H.S. graduate. Child related experience preferred.
