Transportation - How will you Travel To & From Gaston Early College High School?
As we begin working on transportation schedules for school bus riders next year, we must know if you plan for your child to ride the bus to and/or from school or if your child will be a car rider.  School begins at GECHS each day at 9:00 am (later than the 8 am start times at feeder high schools in GCS) allowing for both school bus riders and car riders to travel from the various parts of our large county to our school.

Here is a brief description of how the bus routes are established for the magnet programs within GCS:

IN THE MORNING -
Students ride regular bus routes of their feeder high school, as if they were attending the feeder high school, OR students are dropped off at their feeder high school by siblings or parents (GECHS car-rider students may also be dropped off directly at GECHS).  Once all magnet school students are at the feeder high school, a shuttle bus takes them to GECHS (the feeder school's bus actually transports Highland Tech and GECHS students simultaneously; drops the Highland students off first, and then drops GECHS students off).

In early August, please contact your feeder high school for morning route information.  GECHS does NOT coordinate AM bus routes.  We only coordinate PM bus routes.

IN THE AFTERNOON -
Upon dismissal at 3:45, bus riders are loaded onto buses at Gaston Early College and taken home. Please note, because we begin the school day later, we also dismiss later. Buses leave straight from Gaston Early College and travel to our students' neighborhood drop offs/home.
