Timing: 12 - 15 March (4 days), 1 - 4pm each day
This training camp serves as a ramp up for students to perform their best for the inter-school competitions. Through observing each student’s gameplay, coaches will work with them to work on their weaknesses and honing their strengths, enabling students to gain confidence and play at their best during competitions. For students who are only participating in the inter-school competitions later in the year, this training camp serves as a 4 day intensive training to gain experience through sparring and prepare for any individual tournaments coming up in June such as the Pilot Pen Badminton Championships held at Temasek Club. As for beginners, this training camp serves as a good platform for students to pick up badminton at a younger age, gain interest and passion in badminton and make friends along the way.
Example Drills and Training Programmes:
- Serve and receive drills, simulating gameplay
- Live Attacking drills focusing on lob and smash, while mixing in some drop/chop shots
- Honing shots to help create opportunities to attack (net/push shot at the front, punch lob)
- Live drills to apply skills learnt in gameplay scenario
- 30 mins per training session for physical conditioning, including strength agility, endurance agility, and different types of footwork to help students to improve endurance and court movement.
Coach to Student Ratio: 1 coach to 3 students
